DVD Release Party

The 2009 DWOS DVD release party is Thursday October 29 at the Turnage Theater in Washington NC. Show up with $5 (which helps support the Turnage) and get ready to see this year's performance on "THE BIG SCREEN". For $20 (which supports Eagle's Wings) you can have a DVD for your very own. You will want one...I promise! The fun continues...please join us!

We are in the last week before the BIG performance! It is so exciting...the cast is doing the last minute rehearsals, the stage jitters are in over time, the costumes are getting the last stitches and then it is LIGHTS, CAMERAS, ACTION!!! Don't let those lights come up without you sharing in some of the fun. The Invitational Dress Rehearsal tickets will be sold at the door of the Washington High School Auditorium @ 4:00 August 29 for $10 each.

I'm so excited!

As I sat watching dance practice this week, I was so excited I could hardly stand it! I spoke to the "Star in waiting" as we sat on the bench at the studio..."We need to film this from beginning to end. From the first night Janet and I sat on THE STOOLS" looking at the "oh my goodness what have I agreed to do" Stars that were sitting on "the bench" to the dancing Stars that we will see at the Performance". What an outstanding performance we will enjoy. Not only will we be blessed by the work and the talent...but look at the giant leap we will take to fight poverty! Christian Love is IN ACTION! Thank you Stars, Thank you Dancers, Thank you Eagle's Wings supporters! What a blessing you are!

IDR???

Ahhh...I want to tell you how good these stars are! There is some amazing toe tapping,muscle kissing, russian jumping, cartwheeling, cheerleading, bull fighting(and dancing)...DANCERS AND STARS! This is going to be an INCREDIBLE performance. And what is being held together by velcro? And you are going to do WHAT? Oh my goodness...most of the dancers are halfway through their numbers by now. They could stop now and it would still be an awesome performance. How do they come up with these ideas and then look like professionals? UNBELIEVABLE! Can it really be bigger and better every year! Last year was great and this year will be as well.

I cannot wait for all of you to see this! Be at Dancing with OUR Stars Friday August 29 @ Washington High School! The performance begins @ 8:00. Will there be an "Invitational Dress Rehearsal" this year with over 1200 seats available???

Ahhhh...I knew this would happen! EVERYBODY WANTS TICKETS!! Yikes...the calls are coming in. I am pulling from one Star and covering another but the end is near!! As a reminder to all of you guys reading the blog The Stars have LIMITED tickets!!! Those tickets are still at some of the businesses in Washington. PUT THE NAME WITH THE BUSINESS! The practices are "rolling along" literally! This is such a fun time! Everybody is into it...they want to do it more and they want to do it better. IT IS JUST 2 MINUTES! But what a fun two minutes. Move out of the way Dancing with The Stars....OUR Stars take the stage at Washington High School Auditorium on August 29!

OMG! Dancing with OUR Stars is going to be an AWESOME show!! I didn't think there was any way to top last year's performance but LOOK OUT! These guys are unbelievable. I am feeling so blessed to be a part of this incredible world! Thank you dancers...Thank you stars! Thank you so much Ms. Janet!

Facebook/First Official Practice

Practice for "Dancing with OUR Stars" officially begins tonight. Le Moulin Rouge de Danse and Janet Cox will be jamming from 5:00-9:00! This will be so much fun! It is amazing to be able to watch the couples from the beginning to the final performance. (Hmmmm....maybe we should ask WITN to make a series out of this! I bet it would have a great following) The first night is..."what was I thinking? You want me to do WHAT?" (dis go here...dis go there) And in no time it becomes "Look what I can do". Then..."oh yeah...look at me I am the "QUEEN/KING" of this dance floor"! WITN, I think we could even sell re-runs!

Janet Cox and Le Moulin Rouge de Danse has helped Eagle's Wings see the "Dancing with OUR Stars fundraiser go from a dream to a reality. Debbie Adams, the Executive Director of Eagle's Wings caught up with Janet at the end of the summer last year (at the studio's recital time) to see if she might encourage her to "help" with this event. Janet was so excited to get started. The two women put their heads together and "made" the event was it is today. What a blessing Janet has been as well as the dancers and stars that give their time to make this fundraiser such a success for the clients of Eagle's Wings ministry! DWOS has become a huge part of the funding for the ministry.

The community has embraced "Dancing with OUR Stars" and Eagle's Wings is so thankful! It is such a fun event.

1. Reggie Baker - Shannon Reising “BOLLYWOOD” Reggie is retired from Beaufort County School system. Shannon works with the Martin/Pitt Partnership for Children. (Shannon danced last year with Mike Gwynn and Jeff Jakub)

2. Ray Moore – Gayle Watson Roper “SUNNY SIDE OF THE STREET”. Ray is the owner of F. Ray Moore Oil Company. Gayle is a dance instructor at Dance Academy East and owns Watson in Homes. Gayle danced last year with Jimmy Moore.

3. Marcus Jones – Caroline Phillips – “HEY MICKIE” Marcus is a dentist. Caroline Phillips is a college student at NC State. Caroline helped tremendously last year behind the scenes.

4. Sean “Nico” Nathan – Galina Panova. “LITTLE RED HAT” Nico owns “The Map Room”. Galina is a professional dancer and is with the ECU Department of Dance. Galina danced with Jeffrey Phipps last year.

5. Catherine Glover – Jeremy Watson Catherine is the Executive Director of the Chamber. Jeremy is a dance instructor and works with his family at Watson in Homes and Dance Academy East. Jeremy tapped dance with Christine Kennedy last year.

6. Marc Rucquoi – Kiki Hampton “POSE DOBLE” Marc is a Physician in Chocowinity. Kiki danced last year with Tom Anglim. Kiki is a jewelry designer (with a Criminal Justice degree)

7. Alan Jordan – Caroline Phillips - JAILHOUSE ROCK Alan is the Beaufort County Sheriff. Alan was on the comment panel last year.

8. Mick Reed - Kiki Hampton “NOWHERE TO RUN” Mick is the City of Washington Police Chief.

9. Jimmy Davis - McKenna Cox–“ FIRE” Jimmy is the City of Washington Fire Chief. McKenna danced with Bubs Carson last year. She is a Dance/Theater major at ECU.

10. Russell Smith - Janet Cox– “MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW” Russell owns Russell’s Men’s Wear in Washington. Janet is the director of “Dancing with OUR Stars” production and owner of Le Moulin Rouge de danse studio.

11. Ed Moultrie – Laurie Weston –“ JIVE” Rev. Moultrie is the minister of Beebe Memorial. Laurie is a Clinical Intern Supervisor at ECU. She danced last year with Kevin Johnson (the rector at St. Peter’s)

12. Daniel Bergivien –Staci Hardison “BOOGIE NIGHTS” Daniel works for Morris Agency Insurance. Stacy danced last year with Will Mayo. She is a hair dresser and owns Studio Cheveux.

13. Vinnie Cilluffo – Susan Sizemore “MOMBO ITALIANO” Vinnie (and his brother Tony) owns Frank’s Pizza. Susan works with Watson in Homes and teaches Tap at Dance Academy East. She danced last year with Georgia Anne Atkins.

14. David McLawhorn – Megan McLawhorn (Father and Daughter) Dave is President of Beaufort County Community College. Megan is a student at WHS and a dancer. She will be in the upcoming ECU production of “The River”.

15. Debbie Ainsworth - Will Mayo- Debbie is a Pediatrician in Washington. Will danced last year with Staci Hardison. Will is an attorney. (Will was the star last year and comes back as a dancer).

16. Michael Bilbro – Melissa Smith – “GREASE MEDLEY” Michael recently wrote a Children’s Book. He works with Horizon Health at Beaufort County Hospital. Melissa is a dancer, a student and works for Dr. Manning.

17. Pam Nuckols – Jeff Jakub “LATIN MIX” Pam danced last year with Will Reising and Marie Barber Freeman. She is the owner of Admix. Jeff is an artist and a dancer. He danced with Shannon Reising last year. (Jeff was a star last year and came back as a dancer)

18. Genna Weatherington - Will Reising “SINGING IN THE RAIN” Will is a retired marine and a Martial Artist. He is married to Shannon. He danced last year with Marie Barber Freeman and Pam Nuckols. Genna owns/operates Down on Main.

19. Billy Weaver - McKenna - MICHAEL JACKSON MEDLEY Billy is a sportscaster for WITN.

20. Shelley Gentner Shelley is a tap instructor and we think we have found her a bright Star. (we are waiting for the confirmation)

Patch Clark – Stage Manager – Had a blast as the stage manager last year, serves on the Board for Eagle’s Wings, and teaches at ECU School of Theatre and Dance.
